Teach God’s Word Sis. Stella Dhinakaran
“For You are my hope, O Lord God; You are my trust from my youth.” (Psalm 71:5)
How important it is for us to have the knowledge about God right from our childhood days! Dear parents, it is equally important for you to be filled with the knowledge of God and to follow Him. Then only, will you be able to lead your children in the right way. Life is full of twists and turns. When children grow up they have to face challenges on their own. They have to face competitive exams, face problems in their friendships and face many changes in their thinking which have to tuned well in order for them to overcome hardships and come out with flying colours. Without a relationship with God, they would find it difficult to manage life on their own. So it is the responsibility of the parents to teach God’s Word and how to lead a God fearing life to children. Only then will they not bring grief when they grow up. They will all be taught by the Lord (Isaiah 54:13).
We read in the Bible that Abraham and his son Isaac knew the Lord and walked close to Him. They also had many devout and intense spiritual experiences with the Lord. But Jacob was not brought up like that. He often had to struggle with his brother Esau. At that time, the Lord revealed Himself to Jacob and gave him the knowledge about Him. The Lord by His grace gave me my dear son Paul and I taught him about the Lord, right from his early stages of life. Whenever I woke him up at six in the morning, he would immediately get up and come for prayer. That is why the Lord by His grace has enabled him to know the love of God at the right time and has made him to stand as a testimony for Him with zeal.
Dearly beloved! Are you able to excel in the knowledge about God before your children with zeal and fervour? Then teach them about the excellence of having a righteous life. Teach them the importance of your family receiving God’s blessings. Bible says, “How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your Word” (Psalm 119:9). It is impossible to train children in godly ways without introducing them to the Word of God. Only if they know how people lived for God it will inspire them to follow those examples. So share time with your children speaking about the characters in the Bible and teaching them what is right before God. It will help them in taking decisions that please God. According to the promise word, “For You are my hope, O Lord God; You are my trust from my youth” (Psalm 71:5), the Lord will be their hope from their youth and He will lead them in divine ways to reap blessings in abundance.
Prayer:
Almighty Father!
Like Abraham, as a family, from generation to generation give me and others the grace to keep the way of Lord, to do righteousness and justice. Lead me to walk vigilantly in Your ways from today. Help me to know You and to trust in You. Help me to teach my children to walk in Your ways. Help me instil a desire to seek You in the hearts of my children. As for me and my house we choose to serve You and You alone O Lord.
In Your precious name I pray, Amen.
